We’re your typical yuppie couple that just wants to leverage the internet to better ourselves and others when it comes to a major purchase.
When we told our friends that we are buying a house without an agent, everyone was surprised and said "I didn't even know you could do that." We started to search online but found limited data and anecdotes in an aggregate place. We figured since we love data, storytelling, and real estate, we should start a blog about it. We are hoping that between Ben's data analytics background and entrepreneur skills combined with Anh's passion and knowledge for real estate, we could create a resource that is useful for prospective buyers.
Ben has a decade of experience in the tech sector after studying Engineering and Finance at Lehigh, obtaining a B.S. and a M.S. In tech, he's worked in data science, analytics, and product management before taking the jump at the end of 2017 to start his own company, WeAchieve. Since WeAchieve, Ben has joined a large tech start up, focusing on “Data Lakehouses”, and learning a lot more about the real estate community since meeting Anh. Outside of tech, Ben is a big runner, formerly good golfer, and amateur political philosophy writer.
Anh has a decade of experience in finance and real estate, particularly in the secondary mortgage market. Her professional experience as a securities trader relies on her knowledge of borrower's expected behavior and investor's demand for stable cash flows. Personally, she has also accumulated several investor properties in the DMV area which she self-manages. She has experienced your typical landlord ups and downs, from receiving Christmas cookies from her tenants to being a plaintiff in a case. Although Anh is not a real estate agent, she has a Master Degree in Real Estate from Georgetown University (Hoyas 2019). Other than perusing Redfin in her spare time, she likes to travel and has been to over 48 countries.
